How Custom Pallets Are Made
Written by TC Pallet
Wooden pallets are one of the most important pieces of the global shipping system. They keep products moving efficiently and safely, and many industries depend on custom designs built to exact specifications.
Why Pallets Aren't Mass-Produced
Most pallets aren't built on an automated factory line. Automation is great for producing thousands of identical units, but it doesn't fit the way most companies actually buy pallets — in smaller batches, with specific size and load requirements that change from job to job.
Retooling automation for every custom run would be slow and expensive. Skilled labor and flexible production lines make far more sense.
The Build Process
Custom pallet manufacturing starts with a conversation about how the pallet will be used: the product, its weight, how it's handled, and how it ships. From there, the design is engineered to match those specs, lumber is cut to size, and pallets are assembled and inspected.
At TCP, every custom pallet is checked by our quality control team before it leaves the facility, so what shows up on your dock performs the way it should.
