Heat-Treated Pallets for International Shipping (ISPM #15)
Written by TC Pallet
ISPM #15 — the International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures publication 15 — regulates wood packaging material used in international trade. The standard exists to prevent the spread of plant pests and diseases across borders.
Why It Matters
Approximately 80 countries require imported goods to ship on ISPM-15 compliant heat-treated pallets. Without the proper stamp, shipments can be rejected, fumigated, or destroyed at the port.
How Heat Treatment Works
Pallets are heated to a core temperature that eliminates pests and pathogens. Certified pallets are stamped with the international mark so customs and inspectors at any port can verify compliance.
